Black Turmeric Magic

We were given this beautiful unique root from a local organic farmer to “play” with. We infused a powerful healing oil and tinctured the rest of it. The oil ended up in a healing balm and is used topically.

Black Turmeric is not as popular as yellow Turmeric. Black Turmeric is used for mainly medicinal purposes.

The healing properties of Black Turmeric include:

Cancer
The Black Turmeric’s curcumin may help prevent if not kill cancer cells from growing.

Lung Illnesses
Black Turmeric has been known to improve or treat lung illnesses such as asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, etc.

Natural Anti-Oxidant
The curcumin in Black Turmeric is very effective in neutralizing free radicals. This is why if taken in moderation; it has been known that Black Turmeric can neutralize the free radicals which our body cannot. Thus, negating the effects of aging and cancer cells.

Active Anti-Inflammatory
The Black Turmeric has been known to be a very effective anti-inflammatory. A compound, such as the curcumin, found in the Turmeric is a natural anti-inflammatory compound.

Pain Reliever

Harvesting Yellow Dock Root

Yellow dock is thought to benefit the digestive tract, liver and skin and has been known to treat inflamed nasal passages. One of its primary uses by herbalists is for skin conditions associated with poor digestion, poor liver function or “toxicity”. Yellow dock may also be useful in assisting with:

  • Poor digestion
  • Skin conditions
  • Mild constipation
  • Liver detox

Yellow dock is prepared for medicinal use as a syrup, a tincture, or an ointment/balm. We make tincture with it and use it in our Empress Roots liver support tincture.

 

Nettle Season is here

Those prickly stinging leaves may appear dangerous, but actually Nettle tea is known to be one of the most beneficial spring time remedies for seasonal allergies. Nettles have been used for hundreds of years to treat painful muscles and joints, eczema, arthritis, gout, and anemia. Today it can be used to treat urinary problems, hay fever, or in compresses or creams to treat joint pain, sprains and strains, tendinitis and insect bites. Nettles are chock full of nutrients, including iron, calcium, vitamin A, and vitamin K. It’s really a remarkable plant!

If you are stung by the nettle leaf, the best remedy is to rub nettle balm on it. Poof, stinging is gone!
